Alexander Zverev was dismissed from the Paris Masters by Robin Haase in the second round on Wednesday.
Haase won 3-6 6-2 6-2 to eliminate the fourth seed Zverev in just an hour and 33 minutes.
Haase had previously beaten Steve Johnson for the loss of just three games and, on Wednesday, broke Zverev's serve four times.
Haase will play either Joao Sousa or Juan Martin Del Potro next.
Zverev, aged 20, will make his ATP Finals debut live on Sky Sports from November 12.
Former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro gave his London bid a boost with a 6-2 6-2 win over Portuguese qualifier Joao Sousa.
The 13th-seeded Argentinian needs to reach at least the semi-finals to take the eighth qualifying spot from Pablo Carreno Busta, who was dumped out by French wildcard Nicolas Mahut on Tuesday.
Del Potro will face unseeded Dutchman Haase in the last 16.

Croatian third seed Marin Cilic dispatched his fellow countryman Borna Coric 6-4 6-3, while David Goffin edged one match away from a spot at the ATP Finals after battling past Adrian Mannarino 6-2 2-6 6-3.
Bulgarian world No 8 Grigor Dimitrov, who has already booked his ticket for the Tour Finals, knocked out French favourite Richard Gasquet with a straightforward 6-4 6-4 win.
Home hope Lucas Pouille kept his slim hopes of qualifying for the season-ending tournament alive by seeing off Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 6-3 6-4, but US Open runner-up Kevin Anderson's chances ended with a 5-7 6-4 7-5 loss to Fernando Verdasco.
