World number one Andy Murray has no plans for retirement and will continue to play tennis for as long as he remains in love with the game and stays fit enough to compete.
Ahead of the Scotsman's record-extending attempt to win the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club this week, he spoke of his desire to continue playing until at least the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where he could compete for his third consecutive gold medal.
"So long as I'm fit and healthy and enjoying playing I'll do it as long as I can," Murray told the Guardian.
"I don't want to stop in two years. I want to keep playing. Who knows where I am going to be in a few years. When I go out, I'm really trying to get better and learn stuff and improve. There's a point to me doing it."
The 30-year-old has set his sights on gold at the 2020 Tokyo Games, but is not taking selection for granted amid the growing talent emerging from British tennis clubs.
"I would hope to still be playing at the next Olympics," said Murray. "I don't think that would be how I judge when or if I'm going to stop, based on just trying to make it to the next Olympics.
"Maybe I might not even be in the Olympics ranking wise or there might be more British guys ahead of me at that time."
Murray won the Aegon Championships ahead of both his Wimbledon titles in 2013 and 2016, and will be hoping to do the same again when he kicks off his campaign against British No 4 Aljaz Bedene on Tuesday.
