A try in the dying minutes earned Zebre a 28-25 victory over Italian rivals Treviso in the Guinness PRO12 on Sunday.
Winger Dries van Schalkwyk crossed for the winning score with no time left on the clock as Zebre kept Treviso win-less in this season's campaign.
Zebre led 16-3 at the break and looked comfortable before Benetton mounted a comeback on the back of two yellow cards shown to the home side, and a converted try from Matteo Zanusso five minutes from time appeared to have won it for Treviso.
But there was one final twist and Van Schalkwyk's score - converted by Kelly Haimona - gave the hosts the win and kept them above Treviso at the foot of the PRO12 table.
Carlo Canna and Jayden Hayward traded early penalties before Zebre moved ahead when Canna slotted a second penalty and then crossed for a try as the first quarter drew to a close.
He converted the try to give the home side a 13-3 lead, and added a further penalty to complete a first half in which he scored all of his team's points.
Gonzalo Garcia missed a penalty for Zebre shortly after half-time before the game swung the visitors' way in the 50th minute when Dario Chistolini and Andrea Lovotti were both sent to the sin-bin.
Hayward narrowed the gap to 16-11 with a penalty and a try of his own. He missed the conversion but it was not long before Treviso led, with Gega crossing in the 66th minute.
Their advantage lasted only a minute though, as George Biagi dotted down for Zebre to make it 21-18, and it stayed that way until Zanusso's try, which was converted by Hayward.
The result means Treviso's search for a first win of the season goes on, with Zebre now six points clear of their opponents in the PRO12.
