Ulster ran riot as they scored four tries to beat Cardiff Blues 36-17 in the Guinness PRO12 on Friday night.
Two tries from Louis Ludik as well as scores from Craig Gilroy and Paul Marshall went with 14 points from the boot of Ruan Pienaar as Ulster scored a bonus-point win over the Blues.
Craig Gilroy got his team off the mark early after only three minutes of play. The ball was moved through the phases before getting out to Gilroy, who gave Ruan Pienaar a chance to extend the early lead to 7-0 which the Springbok duly did.
After only six minutes, three of the players had left the field; Cory Allen walked off with with an injured shoulder before Rhys Patchell was stretchered off for the Blues, while Ulster's Stuart Olding had already left the field.
At that point Nick Williams was shown a yellow card but Ulster did not concede in that time. After 15 minutes Pienaar had extended his side's lead to 10-0. Louis Ludik crossed the line shortly thereafter but Pienaar missed the conversion, though at 15-0 his side had extended a handy lead as the first quarter drew to a close and they returned to the full complement of players.
Ulster held out for the remainder of the half, and though there was a call for a penalty try to the Blues on the stroke of half-time, it was not give and the home side went into the break with a lead of 18-0.
At the beginning of the second half penalties were exchanged by the two kickers before Lucas Amorosino made a break and passed to Anscombe who puts Isaacs over in the corner.
As the game drew into the final quarter Alex Cuthbert crossed the line, and with the Anscombe conversion the scoreline was suddenly 21-17.
Pienaar stretched the lead with a penalty before Ludik went over for his second of the game to make it 29-17. It was Paul Marshall who scored the final try for the home side, which gave them the bonus point as they cruised to a 19-point victory.
