The French powerhouse struggled in the first half despite scoring converted tries from Gary Botha in the sixth minute and Patricio Albacete just before the half-hour mark.
Tommaso Benvenuti replied in between those scores, and three penalties from Tobias Botes, one right on the stroke of half time, meant the Italians went in level at 14-14 at the break.
Terviso failed to get on the scoreboard in the second 40 minutes though as Toulouse pulled clear to a bonus-point win that saw them move above Leicester in the table.
French winger Vincent Clerc went over just four minutes after the restart and Toulouse never looked back, with Florian Fritz going over to effectively seal the game with an hour gone.
Yohan Huget added a fifth try right at the death with a breakaway score, which Luke McAllister converted to make it five-out-of-five for him in the game.
The win gave Toulouse a two-point lead at the top of the group as a result of Leicester's draw with Ospreys in the other game.
Next week's trip to Welford Road is still a winner-takes-all affair though as the Tigers will pip Toulouse to a quarter-final spot if they win on home soil, but a win or a draw will get the French side through.
