Jonny Wilkinson kicked 14 points as Toulon edged to a 19-6 victory over Montpellier on Friday.
The fiercely-fought win consolidates third spot in Top 14 for Toulon - opening up some breathing space between them and fifth-placed Montpellier.
Wilkinson, who passed a late fitness test on his ankle, landed four penalties and converted a second-half penalty try to seal the win.
Benoit Paillaugue and Martin Bustos Moyano landed a penalty apiece for the visitors, who also had Christophe Samson sin-binned.
