Ken Owens scored the only try of the match as Scarlets won 16-6 in their Guinness Pro12 derby against the Cardiff Blues.
The victory takes Scarlets into sixth place on the table, improving their chances of claiming the final automatic qualification spot for the European Champions' Cup.
In the last round of the regular season, Scarlets travel to Treviso, while seventh-placed Connacht - four points behind - host Ospreys.
The remainder of Scarlets' points came from Rhys Priestland, playing in his final home game before heading to Bath, while Rhys Patchell registered two penalties for the Blues.
It was a scrappy affair in Wales, of which Scarlets had the better of the first 40 minutes, taking a 9-3 lead, but it took 20 minutes for either team to score due to an array of handling errors.
Patchell notched up the first points of the game after Scarlets full-back Liam Williams was yellow-carded by the referee for slowing the ball down in front of his posts.
But Scarlets hit back through a Priestland penalty after 26 minutes.
Six minutes later, Scarlets flanker James Davies earned his side a second penalty from a ruck and with one minute remaining, Priestland added a third to make it 9-3 at the break.
The second half started the way the first half had, with too many handling errors for either side to trouble the scoreboard, but Patchell did add another penalty.
When Jake Ball conceded a penalty in front of his posts, Patchell was given a chance to level the scorer, but the pivot hooked the attempt wide.
Owens finally crossed the whitewash from a catch and drive, with Priestland adding the conversion with 14 minutes remaining which the Scarlets managed to negotiate without conceding.
