Ospreys edged Cardiff Blues 13-6 in a one-try affair at the Liberty Stadium in the Guinness PRO12.
The only try of the game, from Alun Wyn Jones, was all that separated the two teams after a 3-0 half-time scoreline was not helped by the arrival of heavy rain in the second period.
Dan Biggar left the field at the beginning of the second half and replacement Sam Davies stole the show as he steered his side to a derby win to take the man of the match award.
Jarrod Evans opened the scoring for the Blues in the eighth minute when Reynold Lee-Lo got over the ball in a tackle and won his side a penalty. The Blues fly-half then had a chance to further his side's lead two minutes before half-time, but the kick ended up to the left of the poles to bring down the curtain on one of the less memorable halves of the season.
Davies had a chance to level the score early after the break when Justin Tipuric was pulled down in a lineout but he too missed the shot at goal before Evans made it 6-0 in the 51st minute.
The Ospreys were on the attack shortly thereafter and came close to scoring a try, but the clinical Blues defence held out before winning a penalty for holding onto the ball on the ground.
The Blues cleared their lines but the Ospreys attack would not waver as the rain started to fall at the Liberty Stadium.
The home side were not expansive in the slippery conditions but were unrelenting in the way they tested the visitors' resolve before second rower Jones crashed over next to the poles for an easy conversion for Davies and a 7-6 lead to the Ospreys as the third quarter drew to a close.
It was the first time Ospreys had led in the game but it was a lead they refused to give up.
Davies then extended his his side's lead from the kicking tee when Aaron Jarvis was penalised for playing the ball illegally with 10 minutes remaining.
The game began to open up slightly in the closing stages before Davies put the game out of reach with a 78th-minute kick that handed Ospreys a 13-6 win in front of their home fans.
