Italy have made one change ahead of Sunday's Six Nations meeting with England in Rome, with Luke McLean coming into the starting XV.
The Australia-born utility back replaces David Odiete at full-back after the Mogliano star suffered a sprained ankle during last weekend's 23-21 defeat to France.
Lock George Biagi has recovered from a thigh injury and will start at the Stadio Olimpico.
Two potential debutants - Treviso flanker Abraham Steyn and Zebre fly-half Edoardo Padovani - are among the replacements.
Treviso centre Andrea Pratichetti, whose sole Azzurri appearance came against Canada in 2012, is also on the bench.
"We're not favourites," Brunel said. "We've never beaten England and in the last two games we conceded between 40 and 50 points (52-11 and 47-17).
"The goal is to still be in the game at the 60th or 70th minute. Last year, we conceded 40 points but in the 55th minute we were in it. We didn't manage to hold on through to the 70th minute. If we manage that, it can change things."
The Frenchman said he wanted to see "a warrior spirit, a fighter's spirit, as I saw in Paris.
"England's changed coach but not players, they're the same. They have a direct game which relies on power up front with some three-quarters that have shown over the last two or three years that they're dangerous individually.
"They'll play on power, possession and territorial advantage. The English are not like us or the French.
"They don't have doubt, they continue on the same path for 80 minutes no matter the score."
