The hosts went into the Pool 3 contest at Kingston Park with an outside chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals, but Brive's 31-9 win over Calvisano put paid to those hopes.
The Falcons did still come away with a commanding success over their Romanian opponents, Ryan Shortland and Tom Catterick running in tries, with a penalty try also awarded to the home side.
Rory Clegg added three penalties and a conversion, while Phil Godman proved to be the only other points-scorer as he tagged on the extras to Catterick's late effort.
Newcastle were in the driving seat straight away as Shortland went over in the second minute, with the penalty try coming just before half-time and Catterick going over three minutes from the end.
