Versatile back Tom May has been named at fly-half for Newcastle in the absence of Jonny Wilkinson and Rory Clegg.
May, who is better known as a full-back or winger, featured at No.10 for the second half of Sunday's 10-7 victory over Gloucester - and with Clegg missing out due to a groin problem, has got the nod.
Elsewhere in the side Mark Sorenson returns to the second row and Brent Wilson come in at openside flanker. The only other change to the side sees Steve Jones slot in at full-back.
Given that Brive know a bonus-point victory will all but see them into the last eight, it is hardly surprising that they have fielded a strong side.
There is a real cosmopolitan look to their side, with players from over six different countries in the starting XV. Welsh duo Barry Davies and Alix Popham join England caps Ben Cohen, Andy Goode and Steve Thompson in the side.
Elsewhere Fijian Norman Ligairi starts on the right wing, with further Test experience on the bench.
