Gloucester ran in seven tries on their way to a 47-3 demolition of Sale Sharks in their Guinness Premiership clash at Kingsholm on Saturday.
Four tries, including a brace from winger Lesley Vainikolo, effectively wrapped up the game after just thirty minutes and sealed the bonus point for the West Country men.
The Gloucester scrum was dominant from the outset and the visiting pack struggled to cope as they collapsed near the posts to hand their hosts a penalty try in the sixth minute.
Mike Tindall, returning after four months out with a hamstring injury, was instrumental in both of Vainikolo's scores on 11 and 19 minutes.
The centre first fed Olly Morgan, who put Vainikolo in at the left corner, before starting the move that saw the former England winger exploit a large gap in the Sale defence.
Dominant
Flanker Akapusi Qera then romped through a lacklustre Sale defence to score under the sticks and Nicky Robinson added the extras to open up a commanding 26-0 lead.
Hodgson slotted a penalty to put Sale on the scoreboard but by now the outcome looked all too inevitable.
Twenty minutes into the second period Robinson chipped over the top of the lone Sharks defender and dived on the ball for the Cherry and Whites' fifth.
The Welsh fly-half converted his own try before James Simpson-Daniel booted to the Sale line and chased down his kick to cross ten minutes from time.
And replacement flanker Andy Hazell capped off the a dominant performance when he raced unopposed to the line in the 75th minute
