Brive produced a strong second-half effort to overwhelm Petrarca Padova 32-6 in their Amlin Challenge Cup opener.
After an early exchange of penalties, Brive winger Mathias Atayi bagged the opening try in the 13th minute much to the delight of the crowd at Stade Municipal.
But Tim Walsh's drop goal, coupled with some stern defence, helped Petrarca through to half-time trailing just 8-6.
It was a different story in the second period as, after both sides made a raft of substitutions, Brive took control - mainly thanks to the efforts of Julien Caminati.
Caminati slotted a penalty and then converted his own try to allow the Top 14 outfit to move 18-6 ahead with 22 minutes remaining.
And they added further converted tries from centre Régis Lespinas and replacement Viliame Waqaseduadua in the final five minutes to secure a bonus point and give the final scoreline a comprehensive look.
Caminati finished with a personal 17-point haul made up of a try, three conversions and two penalties.
