Lee Briers could make his return from injury for Warrington when they take on Wakefield at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Stand-off Briers has missed the last month with an ankle problem and it was feared he had suffered a setback in training on Monday.
However the 32-year-old has been included in coach Tony Smith's 19-man squad in the hope of featuring on Friday night.
Briers had to watch on from the stands last Friday as the Wolves suffered just their second defeat of the campaign against his former club St Helens.
Although both sides scored four tries apiece in their final Super League meeting at Knowsley Road, Saints came out on top thanks to Kyle Eastmond's perfect kicking display, as he slotted over all six of his attempts.
Kirmond debut
Wakefield look set to hand Danny Kirmond his debut after the second-rower joined the club on loan in the deal that saw Danny Brough join Huddersfield.
However coach John Kear is still without stand-off Ben Jeffries due to a leg injury suffered in the 52-0 home loss to the Giants back on March 6.
Recent recruit Paul Cooke will play, though, as he forms a new-look half-back pairing with Sam Obst, who takes over from Brough at scrum-half.
"Paul will start tomorrow," said Kear. "It was difficult for him last week, we threw him in at the deep end.
"He's trained with us all week and I've been really pleased with what I've seen on the training field. His partnership with Sam Obst will be a feature of our game."
Warrington squad: L. Anderson, Atkins, Bridge, Briers, Carvell, Grix, Harrison, Hicks, Higham, King, Mathers, Mitchell, Monaghan, Morley, Myler, Riley, Solomona, Westwood, Wood.
Wakefield squad: Blaymire, Blanch, Gleeson, Millard, Tronc, Korkidas, Ferguson, Morrison, Demetriou, Obst , Henderson, Murphy, Leo-Latu, Cooke, Morton, Davey, Moore, Gledhill, Kirmond.
