Wakefield are set to hand debuts to Kieran Hyde and 20-year-old half-back Matty Wildie in their Super League clash against St Helens on Sunday.
The duo were named in the Wildcats squad on Friday after both specialist full-backs Matt Blaymire and Aaron Murphy, plus utility player Paul Johnson, were all ruled out through injury.
Wildie has been given the nod on the back of a string of fine performances for the club's reserve team this year.
Wildie and utility back Hyde are joined in the squad by prop forward Ben Gledhill.
The Wildcats' injury troubles have been tempered the return of hooker or half-back Sam Obst and back row forward Danny Kirmond for the clash at Belle Vue.
Saints are missing goalkicking winger Jonny Lomax and centre Chris Dean with quad injuries, while centre or back rower Chris Flannery also remains sidelined with a calf strain.
Tom Armstrong and Jamie Foster return to the squad alongside fellow rookies Lee Gaskell and Shaun Magennis.
Speaking on the St Helens website coach Mick Potter said:"Wakefield didn't have the best of games last weekend and I'm sure they will be looking to fix that up on Sunday
"They tend to lift themselves when they are at home and they are certainly an unorthodox team to play.
"We need to make sure we are on our guard and that we play our very best to overcome them. We need to look after our own gameplan and cover their threats."
Wakefield squad: Blanch, Gleeson, Millard, Jeffries, Korkidas, Morrison, Demetriou, Obst, Henderson, King, Leo-Latu, Cooke, Moore, Wildie, Gledhill, Kirmond, Hyde, Leaeno. Rinaldi.
