England centre Martin Gleeson scored two tries as Hull consolidated their top eight place with a 32-16 victory at Salford.
The Black and Whites raced into an 18-0 lead after only 11 minutes and the Reds were unable to recover.
A Ray Cashmere mistake from the kick-off gifted Hull ideal field position and they took full advantage as Kirk Yeaman scored from Sam Obst's kick.
And after just five minutes Hull had their second try, this time through Gleeson, with Danny Tickle's second conversion making it 12-0.
Hull did not have to wait long for another try, Stefan Ratchford's blunder resulting in Tom Briscoe going over in the corner and Tickle adding the touchline conversion.
Salford managed to open their account midway through the first half with Adam Clay latching onto Daniel Holdsworth's kick for his fifth try in only three games since making his debut.
It looked only a temporary blip for Hull as they continued to cause problems for Salford.
Luke Patten's dropped ball gave Hull the chance to make it 24-4 after 32 minutes with Lee Radford charging over near the posts.
Lee Jewitt was held up short on one of Salford's few attacks before Hull blew another chance with a poor kick from Cameron Phelps.
Hope
Salford gave themselves a glimmer of hope with an Ashley Gibson try just before the break from a pass by Holdsworth, who added the conversion to cut the gap to 24-10.
The Reds needed to score first after the interval and they did just that after smart play by Patten, with Ratchford racing over for a solo effort and Holdsworth adding the goal to make it 24-16.
But the game's key moment came with Salford pressing for another touchdown, as Richard Horne intercepted a Holdsworth pass and raced 60 metres before being hauled down by Matty Smith.
A quick play-the-ball and a swift handling move put Will Sharp over in the corner to stretch the lead to 28-16 and the points were secured for Hull with Gleeson going over for his second try after 63 minutes.
