Huddersfield gained sweet revenge for their opening-round Super League defeat by Hull FC with a 24-4 victory at the KC Stadium.
The Giants were kept scoreless in the reverse fixture as Hull claimed a surprise 19-0 win and they appeared determined to right those wrongs in a dominant first-half display.
Danny Brough marked his 150th appearance for the Giants with the first try against his former club and Huddersfield went into the break 16-0 to the good despite losing Craig Huby to the sin bin.
Ukuma Ta'ai and Jamie Ellis were the men to give Huddersfield breathing space and Michael Lawrence crossed midway through the second half to secure victory.
Steve Michaels ensured Hull would not suffer a nilling of their own but Jermaine McGillvary completed an otherwise miserable evening for the Black and Whites when he touched down on the final hooter.
Defences were on top in the opening exchanges but two errors by Hull gifted Huddersfield good field position and Brough took full advantage as he spotted a gap close to the tryline and shot over.
Mickey Paea got Hull going with a rampaging run and the hosts were given a further boost when Huby was sin-binned after catching Jamie Shaul with a high shot as the full-back stooped with the line within reach.
Tom Lineham was taken into touch by good covering defence and the depleted Giants were soon celebrating their second try as Ta'ai went through a gaping hole in the Hull defence to touch down.
Brough dragged a simple conversion wide but team-mate Huby returned to the action with his side in a stronger position than when he had left 10 minutes earlier.
Joe Wardle had a try ruled out for a forward pass by Brough but the Giants were not to be denied, Ellis pouncing on a mistake by Michaels on the stroke of half time to score.
Huddersfield put the game out of their hosts' reach on 59 minutes when Lawrence took an inside ball from Brough to coast in.
Brough sent another easy kick wide and the Giants' lead was cut to 16 points after Michaels finished in the corner despite close attention from covering Huddersfield defenders.
But the visitors had the last word as McGillvary slid over after beating Michaels to Scott Grix's kick hrough.
