Hull continued their impressive start to the Super League season as a devastating second-half blitz accounted for Castleford Tigers at the KC Stadium.
With the scores level at 12-12 at half time, Hull went on to score four tries in 11 minutes before completing a resounding 42-22 win.
Two tries from Richard Horne and further scores from Kirk Yeaman, Willie Manu, Peter Cusack, Craig Hall and Craig Fitzgibbon powered Hull into second place with four wins from their opening five fixtures.
Castleford, who replied courtesy of tries from Ryan Hudson, Shaun Ainscough, Rangi Chase and James Evans, remain winless since their shock opening-night victory over Leeds.
Early dominance
Hull were rewarded for their early dominance on 11 minutes when the lively Yeaman finished off a flowing move to claim his fourth try of the season.
Danny Tickle slammed over the subsequent goal but Castleford, aided by a penalty, were soon level as Hudson crashed over from close range in his side's first genuine attack.
Roared on by the home fans, Hull regained the lead after 22 minutes as Manu reacted quickest to Horne's probing kick through the line.
But the end-to-end action refused to relent as Castleford hit back in the best possible fashion with 10 minutes of the first half remaining.
Hudson looked to have grabbed a second with another menacing burst, but, after he was held up, the Tigers switched play and Brent Sherwin's kick was taken high by Evans who palmed the ball back to Ainscough to allow the loan signing from Wigan to finish from a yard out.
Resuming the second half with the scores level at 12 apiece, Hull then produced a devastating spell of attacking rugby to leave Cas in their wake.
Carnage
Horne's second try in as many games started the carnage, and the home fans were cheering once more when Cusack gave Hull a two-score lead on 53 minutes.
It got even better for the home side, too, as Michael Wainwright made a hash of Horne's towering kick, allowing Hall to touchdown. Tickle converted all four scores to put Hull into an unassailable 36-12 lead.
A Chase try lifted Cas spirits 14 minutes from time and another through Evans ignited hopes of a shock comeback.
However, any such hopes were dashed when in the dying seconds Fitzgibbon crashed over to complete a high-scoring victory for the home team.
