Mambazo has slipped back to a fair mark and would be of interest if the market spoke in his favour but he has been done no favours with the draw and a chance is taken with Prince Tum Tum, who gets the vote ahead of Kennington. The last mentioned looks the pick of Christine Dunnett's two runners ahead of Norcroft but is another that has a wide draw to overcome, while Reg Hollinshead's consistent Gilded Cove looks to be a shade high in the weights at present. Rosein is entitled to be thereabouts but may have to settle for a minor role again. Ever Cheerful would have claims if fit enough for his first start since February but the vote goes to Prince Tum Tum. David Barker's gelding would not have an obvious chance on recent form but has slipped to a fair mark and he should appreciate the return to this surface plus he has the best of the draw.
