In depth

Verdict

Ex New Zealand performer Logician is best on fast ground and was unfortunate to meet a well treated rival when a clear second behind Demasta in a valuable Sandown handicap on his final start last term. Ian Balding's charge should prove hard to beat off the same mark on his seasonal return. Ei Ei was a comfortable winner at Cartmel last month but had his limitations exposed off a 6lb higher mark next time and may prove vulnerable while Bohill Lad is far from convincing over the larger obstacles and was well held back on the Flat recently. Chaparro Amargoso may prove a bigger danger following a string of consistent efforts of late and remains at the right end of the handicap.
