In depth
Verdict
We give the vote here to Angelo's Pride, with the main dangers seen as Lilian and Iamback. The selection hails from a canny stable and showed promise over a shorter trip on his racecourse debut. In what is not a strong race, he can score. Looking at the others. Good Form has regressed since May but has form back then that would give him a chance if a spot of hurdling - in which sphere he showed very little in three runs - has sweetened him up. Lilian has finished second in three of her last six starts, but is plating class. The same stable also runs Iamback, who is another that can be given chances based on form of September 2002. A market move for Yo-Cando would be interesting although, on balance, his pedigree is more speed orientated. Shamwari Fire has the odd bit of Turf and AW form while Heathyards Pride, whose dam was best at seven and eight furlongs, takes a big drop in trip from his debut effort. While that might suit, more is needed from him. That said, this is not a strong event, which is why Jamie Osborne's Angelo's Pride might be up to stepping up on a promising debut run.
