In depth

Verdict

The shortlist picks itself really, with Ballybeg selected ahead of Zabeel Tower and Aboyne. Ballybeg looks to have a good chance based on his Lingfield seven-furlong win two runs ago and, even though his best form so far has been on the all-weather and he was very disappointing at Kempton last time, the opposition does not look strong here and he must have leading claims. A repeat of the form of either of his Turf runs from last September would give Zabeel Tower a big chance, although it has to be disappointing that he has dropped to this level for his first run of the season. Aboyne, who was a fair second in a similar race at Redcar last season, is another to seriously consider but, in a race that lacks strength, Ballybeg gets the vote.
