Verdict

It could pay to stay loyal to Nantucket Sound here, with War Owl rated his biggest danger, and Barking Mad and Ken's Dream others to hold chances. The selection was given a lovely ride when scoring cosily at Bath last time and, now that he has found the winning thread, should go well from a mark that is just three pounds higher than for that win. War Owl has done us proud this year and may just have gone off the boil for his last two runs. If freshened up now, he can go well given that the handicapper has dropped him four pounds for those lack-lustre efforts and Lisa Jones takes a useful three pounds off his back. Barking Mad looked to be on the way back to form when fourth at Newmarket last time so has to be considered seeing that he is now back to the mark from which he last won. However, Ken's Dream finished a head in front of him that day and reopposes on the same terms here. That was a good effort from the latter who has had little racing on the Flat in the last couple of years. A number of the others have a bit to find, while Hiawatha got the run of things when winning at Ayr last time but should still give you a run for your money again. Yeoman Lad has been hinting at a return to form, while Todlea has been running quite well from his current mark so could sneak into a place. For us, this spins the wheel back to Nantucket Sound who shades the vote over War Owl.
