A small and fairly uncompetitive field for what is a decent prize, and this looks to be a match between Polar Way and Desert Destiny, with the former preferred. Amanda Perrett's gelding, who was runner-up in a Group 2 event last year, is effective over six furlongs but both of his wins have come over this trip. He ran an absolute blinder to go down by just a neck to Court Masterpiece in the International Stakes at Ascot last month, and as such was a shade disappointing when a well beaten favourite in Group 3 company at Newbury last time. However, we can forgive him that and this looks a far easier task. Three of his rivals face a very stiff task on official ratings, and the only serious danger is Desert Destiny. The Godolphin four-year-old was two and three quarter lengths behind Polar way when fifth at Newbury last time, where Prince Tum Tum was a neck ahead of him in fourth. However, he had beaten that rival when second to Arakan in the Criterion Stakes at Newmarket before that. He could be a threat in this small field, but we still fancy Polar Way to gain a deserved first win of the season.
