In what may not be the hardest race to win, Granite Steps is just preferred to Eggmount and Euro Bleu. The latter got no further than the fourth on his chasing debut at Plumpton, but had earlier shown ability in a brief career over hurdles, including two placed efforts at this track. Providing his fall hasn't affected his confidence, Lucy Wadham's six-year-old could go well. Eggmount won a bumper at Perth in April but was thrown in at the deep end for his chasing bow when fifth behind the smart Control Man at Cheltenham. He should find today's company less of an ordeal, but we still prefer to side with Ferdy Murphy's Granite Steps. He had an unsuccessful spell over fences over a year ago, but has since found his form over timber, and with the stable in much better form we'll take a chance that his second attempt over the larger obstacles will be a more successful one for Granite Steps.
