In depth

Verdict

Terramarique is open to improvement and is fancied to cope with a penalty better than Silver Dagger, while Supreme Return and Inland Run are others that would have to be given a second look if they attract interest form the on-course punters. Inland Run is capable on his day and has the ability to go close if he is in the mood to do so. However, he has a poor completion record and is not one to go overboard with at short odds. Supreme Return just about gets three miles over hurdles but should be better suited to this type of contest. The market will be a good indication as to the expectations held of him for this chasing debut Silver Dagger is steadily getting the hang of things over fences and comes here on the back of a solid performance at Cartmel. He has more to do here but, having built up a good relationship with Michael McAlister, a bold bid cannot be ruled out. Even so, the Nicky Henderson-trained Terramarique has thrived since he switched yards and, following his emphatic victory at Fontwell, is too hard to oppose in his attempt to follow up in this company.
