Allimac looked in need of the run on his return to action at Huntingdon last month and should strip fitter today so gets the vote ahead of Minster York and Flahive's First. The selection showed progressive form last term, from limited opportunities, and remains less exposed than his rivals. With improvement to come from his four-and-three-quarters length third to Hit Royal at Huntingdon, Henrietta Knight's gelding looks the one to be on. Minster York has conditions to suit but is on a long losing sequence and may find this track too stiff for him, while Flahive's First has been held off today's mark in his last three starts and now seems to be in the grip of the handicapper so we are happy to stick with Allimac.
