Mark Pitman's Ramirez has claims on his debut second behind Onwardsandupwards over course and distance in January but disappointed at Folkestone subsequently and is passed over in favour of the Paul Nicholls-trained Sweet Diversion, who found only the winner Gebora too good in that same Folkestone contest. The son of Carroll House looked as though the run would do him good that day and, with further improvement to come, he should go one better. The others with racing experience make limited appeal although it would come as no surprise to see either the Philip Hobbs-trained Blue Derby or Robert Alner's Optimism improve on their debut efforts. Neither of the newcomers take the eye on breeding and are from stables not know for their success in this type of event.
