Fireball Macnamara has looked a different horse since being sent chasing and has improved for each run this season and he looks to have a simple task based on official ratings. However the ground will be something of an unknown to him having not raced on a surface slower than good to soft. He may still be good enough but backing him at a very short price would not be wise. The form of the German challenger Barito is hard to weigh up though he does have wins at Kempton and Plumpton under his belt. He will appreciate this soft surface and may give the selection most to do. Jakari has run some good races this season, winning at Hereford most recently. However he is held by Fireball Macnamara on their run at Doncaster in January and will need to improve to reverse that form. Another Moose was strongly fancied for his chase debut at Exeter in January and will be better for that race. He was a useful hurdler on his day but his lack of experience may count against him here. After two victories at Folkestone earlier in the season Tallow Bay lost his way when sent over further. This return to two and a half miles will suit and he could go well at a decent price on ground which will suit.
