This marathon event will provide a real test and Primitive Way might be able to reverse placings with Silent Snipe from their runs here on October 14, with Danteco, who also ran in that race, Laazim Afooz and Atomic Breeze ones with place claims. Going through the field. Trooper won this race last year, but from a 15lb lower mark. He has won since from a rating of 82 but runs today from 89 and has not raced for 158 days. He has on occasion run well fresh in the past but we prefer others today. Pilot's Harbour lacks chasing experience but Danteco, a course winner, has won from a slightly higher mark over fences than he races off today. He is, though, four pounds better off with Silent Snipe for having finished three lengths behind him over course and distance last time, although he may not quite see out this extended trip as well as his victor that day and may not be able to reverse placings. However, Primitive Way, beaten a half-length by Silent Snipe that day, is two pounds better off at the weights, so expect him to go well. Laafim Afooz is also a course and distance winner. That success came 12 months ago from a mark of 82 and, seeing that his rating is now rated 75 and looks a tough ride, cannot be ruled out despite showing little in five runs since then. On the bare form of his c/d win Trooper has a lot to find to reverse placings with him. The lightly raced Mister Club Royal won for the first time at Uttoxeter last time, although it was not a strong event and he has yet to race over a trip as far as this. Just Strong is well handicapped on the basis of his Carlisle win over two-and-a-half miles in April 2002 but has shown very little since, has had breathing problems and looks opposable. Atomic Breeze is rated five pounds lower than when winning at Carlisle in April but ran well off today's mark last time so might claim a place. Jimmy Blues has only one placing in 15 attempts to his name so is a bit hard to plead a case for. Not something you can say about Primitive Way, who gets our vote.
