San Peire, Huka Lodge and Wee Willow are the ones to concentrate on here, and San Peire is given the vote. The gelding from the in-form Howard Johnson yard was a fair fourth on this track last time when he was doing his best work at the finish, and with the step up in trip sure to suit he will be hard to beat. Huka Lodge rates the main danger but he has failed to complete the course on two of his last three runs, so he can not be backed with any confidence. Wee Willow is a fair sort who goes well on this track, but his best form of late has been over a shorter trip, and he is not guaranteed to see this out with the emphasis likely to be on stamina. Mr Christie may well have the race run to suit and he can go well at a big price, but for the winner we return to San Peire.
