This race has traditionally unearthed a fair juvenile and we like Light The Fire although Russet Reward and April Pride are dangers. Light The Fire has shown plenty of early speed in his races and was guilty only of being swamped by the pack at Ascot in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. Russet Reward has won his last two races on the bounce and while this is a step up in class, he is likely to be a bigger price than his form entitles him to be due to his modest connections. April Pride finished fifth in the Albany Stakes at the Royal meeting and group form has to be respected at this level. If she can handle the drop in trip, Richard Hannon's filly has to be a player. Raggle Taggle won well at Yarmouth albeit in a very modest time while Royal Raider picked up a Chepstow seller for Stuart Kittow and makes an audacious bid for bigger honours. Moss Likely is better than the bare form of his Ascot run suggests. A good race is in prospect here and LIGHT THE FIRE is the pick.
