BATELEUR is a fairly solid sort in this grade, Stamford Blue and Manchestermaverick have claims and there are a couple of interesting newcomers to the handicap ranks. Mick Channon's charge attracted some support prior to his run at Nottingham and ran well enough to finish second. He's been a while without a win now and has been tried in a visor but he's capable of going close from his current mark if everything drops right. Stamford Blue has an excellent course record and is well handicapped these days but that's as a result of some modest performances and he hasn't shone this term; the return to this venue needs to bring about some improvement. Manchestermaverick hasn't proved easy to win with but has gone close on more than one occasion, including here last time and he makes the short-list. Support for the likes of Minnola and Global Village would put them in the picture whilst Conjecture rates highly with Richard Hughes engaged but Bateleur gets the nod.
