This looks a fascinating three-year-old handicap and marginal preference is for Pagan Sword, who gets the vote ahead the other last time out winners Restoration and Mystery Lot. The last mentioned confirmed her liking for a soft surface when making a winning return on a soft surface at Bath on Tuesday but this looks tougher under a 6lb penalty. John Gosden's Restoration also won his maiden on a soft surface and has to be respected but looks to have been allotted a stiff mark of 84 for his debut in a handicap. Rosecliff receives weight all round and should improve for the step up in trip so is another to consider along with Luca Cumani's Sacranun, who should come on for his return behind Brace Of Doves at Thirsk. Pagan Sword not surprisingly improved for the step up to today's trip when landing a handicap at Lingfield last time and, being by Selkirk, should have little difficulty with the return to a soft surface on turf today. Pagan Sword is taken to defy his 5lb rise in the weights.
