Samuel Charles, Perfect Portrait, Bandos and Warden Warren are the only four runners to go to post in this tight affair and the tentative vote is given to Samuel Charles. The 6-year-old is a progressive sort with solid form on this track. He proved that he can go well over this trip last time at Ayr when a good second behind Flur Na H Alba and as he is in good form he is put forward as the one to beat. Perfect Portrait ran better than the bare form suggested when down the field at Goodwood last time as he was doing his best work at the finish. He has conditions to suit here so could go well. Bandos has got solid form but has not been seen on the racecourse since September so he is probably best watched on this occasion. Warden Warren ran with credit at Doncaster last time behind Jubilee Street and is a consistent sort, so it would not be a major surprise if he were fighting it out at the finish. However, Samuel Charles sets a fair standard here and is taken to score.
