Verdict
The second division of this novices' hurdle is equally as moderate as the first and MID VALLEY is taken to be too good on the day for Rocky's Choice, Tayarat and Mister New York. The John Jenkins team has been in good shape just lately and Mid Valley has plenty of stamina in the locker, but also appears to act on just about any surface. He should hopefully come on for his first hurdles run for around a year at Huntingdon last month and we will take a chance on him. Tayarat was a fast ground scorer over a similar trip at Exeter in April and also went well from a similar mark to today's at Ffos Las in June, though he is inconsistent and might be better for the return to this trip. Rocky's Choice was a heavy ground Cartmel scorer last month in a maiden hurdle, but he does act on fast ground and is not dismissed lightly. Mister New York is the best of the newcomers as far as flat form is concerned and Noel Chance is just the sort of trainer to get the best out of him over timber. Check out the market for clues there, while Barbirolli isn't in the same class on the level but is at least in good form and might make his presence felt. Chalentina looks next best, but preference is for Mid Valley.
