Verdict

This closing contest is about as competitive as it gets all evening with Critical Stage, Forest Green, Estate and Don't Be Bleu among those with chances but we will suggest Shanxi Girl as an alternative. The selection should definitely appreciate the return to this trip and acts well on fast ground. She is lightly raced and therefore open to plenty of improvement, comes from a yard going well in the spring, and the application of blinkers makes her very interesting so we will chance her. Forest Green is potentially well in over hurdles compared to to his chase mark and also acts on the ground. There is no doubting he has some smart form on the board but he has plenty of weight to lug around here and is no certainty. Critical Stage is another with plenty of pounds to shoulder but was good enough to win over c&d last time and is respected given that he acts on a sound surface. Estate was involved in a very warm race at Haydock when last seen in February and conditions also suit David Pipe's runner, and there may still be more to come from him after this break. Don't Be Bleu took a weaker race than this at Huntingdon last time but a 10lb rise here means that A P McCoy will probably have to be somewhere near his best with assistance from the plate and on this occasion we will take a chance with Shanxi Girl.
