Aelred was impressive when winning here (over a half-mile shorter trip) five days ago (June's River held) and runs under a penalty before being reassessed. In such good form, he gets the vote, the caveat being that he has yet to win at this trip. Nosam is not without a chance on the best of his form. Scotmail Lad is only two pounds higher than for his Market Rasen win in March, while Interdit is back to a winning mark. However, the last-named tends to jump to his right and, indeed, has only ever won going right-handed. Curly Spencer beat June's River (by four lengths) and Nosam (a further length away in third) and is 8lbs and 4lbs worse off with those two, respectively, today. San Francisco has won from a mark of 83 (89 today), and his overall form seems to fall short of being nominated as the winner, while Cardinal Mark, well-regarded at one time in Ireland by Eddie O'Grady, has yet to catch the eye over fences.
