Mr Napper Tandy is bound to be popular among backers following a very promising debut effort here over seven furlongs when finding just Hollow Ridge a head too good but Mick Channon's colt is unlikely to represent any value against some promising looking newcomers and a chance is taken with Barkass, who is preferred to Alaghiraar. The last mentioned is a well bred newcomer from the yard of John Dunlop but the stable's youngsters rarely oblige first time out so he may be best watched. The Michael Jarvis-trained Bernasconi has a decent pedigree but one that would suggest that a faster surface would be preferred, while Witchingham is another that may now want any further softening in the ground. Hot Shot Hamish is probably better than he showed first time out but needs to improve dramatically to get involved at the business end and a better bet may prove to be Barkass. Marcus Tregoning's colt is bred to be useful, should handle the cut in the ground perfectly well and comes from a yard that is more than capable of producing one to win first time out.
