Verdict

Desert Quill showed at Wolverhampton earlier this month that she has the potential to stay this trip and has to be respected but Mark Brisbourne's filly faces no easy task at the weights and preference is for Toni Alcala, who gets the vote over Accepting. The last mentioned showed his best form for some time when headed close home by Darn Good at Warwick recently. However, the handicapper has seen fit to raise the gelding 3lbs for that effort and a safer option looks to be Toni Alcala. Roger Fisher's gelding has been holding his form well in better races than this of late and remains feasibly well treated off a mark of 68. Mick Channon's Muzio Scevola is lightly raced but needs to improve, while Western Bluebird has given little sign of encouragement of late. A bigger threat then may come from Welsh Dream, a winner over hurdles at Cartmel last month, who is only 4lbs higher than when scoring over course and distance last year. There is a worry that the seven-year-old may bounce though and preference is for the in-form Toni Alcala.
