        Verdict

        Baroot was beaten over three lengths by the 85 rated Maybe Definitely at Newmarket in July but the winner has been well beaten subsequently as have those who finished behind. Mike De Kock's charge has very little to beat here and will be at short odds but looks worth opposing. Kabaw is a two-year-old who showed a bit of potential for Ken Condon in Ireland and wouldn't need to improve much to take a hand. INTENSE EFFORT had some decent form at a similar level around this time a year ago and has shown good pace for a long way in both recent starts so in a poor contest he could be the solution under Dane O'Neill, who has been firing in the winners over the past few weeks. Doug Watson has his horses flying so the Argentine-bred Tobaco is one to note on his debut as is his stablemate Polar River.
