Calatagan and Knightsbridge King are sure to be popular here, but we will take a chance on the Brian Ellison-trained gelding Bergamo. The selection ran well last week at Newcastle behind The Joker and is quickly turned out for a race in which he could reward his supporters. He had the useful Mister Chisum and Sun King behind him in that race at Newcastle, and although he can be unreliable, there is no doubting his ability. Calatagan looks the main danger as he won well when beating Thoutmosis at Sedgefield last week, and as that was only his third run, there is probably more to come. However, he did not jump all that fluently on that day and may find life more difficult here if he is forced to jump under pressure. Knightsbridge King stayed on well behind I Tina at Chepstow last week and will come on for that his first run of the season, and he looks to have good solid place claims here. Of the rest, Cliquey is worthy of respect as he won well last time, but this step up in grade should find him out, so we are happy to take a chance on Bergamo.
