Spike Jones was a very easy winner at Chepstow on Saturday and can follow up this afternoon at the expense of Predator and Prairie Moonlight. The selection had been knocking on the door in handicaps and had been unlucky to come up against a progressive rival in Nippy des Mottes when second at Taunton last month. He is obviously going the right way himself and looks the best option today. Prairie Moonlight has to shoulder top-weight but merits plenty of respect following placed efforts in very good company this season. Meanwhile Predator is from a top yard and comes into the argument on his Doncaster victory in December. In a very open affair you cannot easily discount Herakles who has a nice racing weight or the Twistion- Davies candidate Ballyandi, but the fact that Spike Jones turns out again to swiftly just gets him our vote.
