      Verdict

      A small-field maiden in which none of the runners can be discounted can go the way of David Elsworth's Esteem Machine at the main expense of Hazzard County. Esteem Machine was very green on debut and then couldn't land a blow in a slowly run contest last time out. It would not be a surprise to see his jockey ride him more prominently in this small field today and if adopting those tactics he could be hard to peg back. Hazzard County steps back up in trip after struggling over six furlongs when last seen on the turf and mustn't be ruled out assuming that fitness is not an issue, whilst Pride Of Northclare was a beaten favourite 15 days ago. He pulled too hard that day at Southwell and now back in trip on a more conventional surface he rates a live danger. Kevin Ryan's stable is starting to hit some form and his newcomer The Blue Stacks should be watched for signs of confidence in the market. Paradise Walk completes the field but may just need further in time, and therefore we will return to Esteem Machine to land the spoils.
