Edgbriar showed promise in three starts in bumpers and has to be respected on his hurdling debut but lack of form over hurdles has to be of concern and a safer option may be Odal D'airy, with Just Jaffa rated the best of the rest. The selection has been given a break since making his debut for Phillip Hobbs in October and may well be better than that encouraging first start in this country may suggest. Duelling Banjos was capable, if hard to win with, on the flat and may again have to settle for a minor role. The four-year-old Cadoulitique is probably best watched on his British debut, while Lindop would need to improve on his previous hurdles form to trouble the judge. Classic Role only beat one home in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle last week and may even find this drop in grade too testing for him, while Just Jaffa may do better over further. It is interesting that Odal D'airy has had a break since his British debut and, in the hope that there is more improvement to come, he gets the vote.
