The selection in the apprentice handicap is Burgundy, with Cantabilly and Follow The Colours the others to make the short list. Smooth Jazz seemed to show a little more sparkle over course and distance last time and, if he gets back to his form of earlier in the season, he could go well, not least because he is better drawn today. Just a pound higher now than for his Kempton win in June, Burgundy's mark is fair and maybe a break will have freshened him up. Running off the same mark as when winning over course and distance two runs ago, Cantabilly is holding his form well and is respected. Inch Lodge got off the mark at Wolverhampton when stepped up to 12 furlongs last time and the feeling is that ten furlongs will suit him better, so he can go well. Just Fly is on a reasonable mark if recapturing his best from earlier in the year, while Catskill is edging back towards a winning Turf mark but lacks all-weather form. Good Article has had a good year but needs to keep the improvement coming, while Northside Lodge ought to be able to go well from his current mark, but we've been saying that for a while now. Follow The Colours was attracting money earlier in the year and, relatively lightly raced, it would be no surprise to see him go well. Overall, though, we will side with Burgundy.
