Verdict

The final event on the card does not look any easier to solve than the rest, and bets are best kept to a minimum. Open Arms has the assistance of the in-form Steve Drowne and was a dual course winner last winter. A consistent sort, he should appreciate the drop back from two miles and is sure to play a part. Nick Littmoden saddles Alesandro Severo who is not certain to get the trip and whose two wins have been at Wolverhampton. Caesarean Hunter galloped his rivals into the ground at Wolverhampton last time but it was a bad race and he has more to do. Amigo has it to do off topweight, but Classic Role has evergreen Pat Eddery in the plate and should be in at the finish. The TEAMtalk selection is Linning Wine, who was being touted as an Aintree Champion Bumper possible after his Kempton debut success in January 2001. Those ambitions came to nothing but he has been showing signs of an imminent win on the Flat of late, notably when much worse off at the weights with his conqueror here, Brilliant Red a week ago. That was over a mile and a quarter, and the step up in trip will bring out the best in him despite the weight concession to all bar Amigo.
