Mardi is not the most consistent of performers but gets the vote in this modest contest, Bamboo Banks and Leprechaun's Gold could be the main rivals. The Willie Haggas trained three-year-old was very disappointing last time out at Newmarket, but that may have been due to the fast ground and not the step up to this trip. Being by Montjeu out of an Irish River mare today's ground and trip should be ideal. Bambo Banks is a rare runner in this grade for John Dunlop and he does have strong claims on the pick of last season's form. Leprechaun's Gold is no world beater and has plenty to find on official ratings but is at least consistent and could run into a place at big odds. All in all a race to tread carefully, but Mardi is given another chance.
