In depth

Verdict

Kosmos Bleu has been knocking at the door this term and can return to winning ways at the expense of Myson, Meggie's Beau and Lantaur Lad. This is not the strongest of contests after the defection of a few fancied contenders at the five-day stage, and Kosmos Bleu, with the trip in his favour, should prove to be the answer. Robert Alner's seven-year-old was a rather fortunate scorer on his chase debut at Newton Abbot in November as he was left clear two out, but he has performed with credit since, including when second to Osiris at Wincanton a fortnight ago. That was in class B company, and the way that he kept on suggests that today's trip will bring out the best in him. Myson also found one too good last time when chasing home Woodenbridge Dream at Huntingdon, but his jumping left a lot to be desired and he cannot afford a similar round here. Meggie's Beau goes well on a right-hand track but has to improve on what he showed at Huntingdon, while Lantaur Lad also disappointed at that track last time. If consistency is the key, then Kosmos Bleu should come out on top.
