In depth

Verdict

Reveillez is taken to remain unbeaten at the expense of Island Sound, Stance and Say What You See to name but three. James Fanshawe's six-year-old has not put a foot wrong since being sent over timber, winning both starts, at Windsor and Doncaster. Although that latest effort was over nearly two and a half miles, he will not be phased by the drop back to the minimum, and as long as the ground does not become too testing, he should outclass his rivals today en-route to the Royal & SunAlliance Hurdle. Also in his favour is the fact that he has won here on the Flat in the past, and he rates a solid bet. Island Sound seems to go best when allowed to bowl along in front, and on his recent Wincanton success, David Elsworth's charge should give the selection most to do along with Stance who, although without an outing over timber since last May, is fit from a run on the all-weather nine days ago. Say What You See burnt himself out in the Lanzarote on his last visit here and found one too good at Doncaster last time, while Nicky Henderson is double-handed with Lord Joshua and Cupboard Lover. All in all it represents a fair test for Reveillez on his handicap debut but he should be up to the task.
